"Most of us - teachers, principals, and other school people signed up for this profession because we care deeply about our important place in the lives of students. To put it simply; in addition to a brain, we have a heart - and we want to put it to use in promoting young people's learning." - Roland Barth, Learning By Heart
Reflection My experiences and opportunities as a graduate student at North Carolina State University have contributed to my professional development and my craft knowledge as an elementary education teacher. As I look forward to the future, I hope that I can continue to share my craft knowledge with my peers with the hopes that they too will reflect on their instructional methods and strategies in order to increase student engagement in the reading of informational texts across the content areas. As I depart the program, I am empowered, motivated, and determined to share my knowledge with my colleagues in order to better student learning and achievement in our school community and beyond.
